| Here are some questions that we are asked by new couples that may have crossed your mind also. We hope the answers will help in your decision to join us for one of our socials. |
Q: What was the concept behind the creation of Southwest Va Socials?
A: We found that there were very few activities in the southwest Virginia area for
couples other than the regular bars and clubs. We were also looking for a place
where we could enjoy a more private environment than those open to the public.
Q: Why do you not allow single males or females to attend your socials?
A: We found that there were several clubs open to singles, and none that were
couples-only. Personally, we were looking for a couples-only atmosphere.
Q: Why did you choose Blacksburg as a location for your group?
A: We found that Blacksburg had lots to offer for visitors and is centrally located to
surrounding states. I-81 makes it easy for couples coming from several different
directions.
Q: Why do you only hold monthly socials? Why not more frequently?
A: Just as I'm sure of other couples, we have very busy lives with families and work.
We've found that once per month is a good "escape" for our friends who just want a
night out to enjoy spending fun times with other couples.
Q: Why do you require the information asked for on the rsvp page prior to attending
one of your socials?
A: We are required to have this information on file (which is kept strictly private to
only the club's directors) in order to obtain our ABC license for each event. As we
are not open to the general public, we must have a list of members who will be
attending.
We also like to have the names of new couples who will be attending so that we can
greet them by name and they get a sense of our friendliness. We try very hard to
help couples who are attending their first party to feel a little less nervous so that
they can enjoy the social more and make new friends easier.
Q: What can I expect as a new couple?
A: Once you arrive and we get the registration for all of the new couples completed,
we will hold a new couples seminar. During this seminar, we will discuss with you
the rules of the club, introduce you to the staff, and allow you to ask any questions
that you may have.
Q: Are there any sexual acts at this party?
A: No. In order to comply with the rules of our ABC license, there is to be no nudity
and absolutely no sexual acts in the club. Once the party in the club is over, we
move to a private suite where we can have a little more relaxed gathering. This suite
has several rooms, a large hot tub, sauna, and plenty of room for mingling with your
new friends.
Q: Are we expected to swing with other couples at this after party?
A: Absolutely not. Although some members may be swingers, they do not force
anyone into anything. We are not considered a "Swingers" club. We have couples
who just look for the privacy and relaxed environment that we have managed to
create.
Q. If we have a little different sexual preference than just swinging, are we still
permitted to attend your socials?
A. Absolutely. We do not ask about your preferences, only hope that we can help
you meet others who share your interests.
Q: Do we have to dress for the theme for the party?
A: No. Although some couples like to dress for the theme, it is not required. Our
usual dress code is whatever you are comfortable in as long as it is street legal.
Although we do have a private entrance to the club hall, you will possibly pass other
hotel guests in your walk to the club event hall.
Q: Why do you not charge a yearly membership fee as other clubs do?
A: We ourselves have paid this membership fee to attend other clubs. Considering
that we could only attend once or twice per year because of the travel time, it was
not worth the money.
